Playing an arrogant aristocrat and talented surgeon, Major Charles Emerson Winchester III, David Ogden Stiers joined the cast of M*A*S*H in 1977. He was nominated for two Emmy's for his performance.
He was also a successful voice actor in popular Disney films, 8 in total, including "Beauty and the Beast" and "Lilo & Stitch." He had other television appearances such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Charlies Angels.
Stiers was the resident conductor of the Newport, Oregon Symphony and had guest conducted for more than 70 orchestras across the world. It is noted that he was a gifted musician.
