Former Baltimore Pitcher Sammy Stewart DEAD @ 63
He helped the Orioles win the 1983 World Series and later found himself addicted to crack cocaine, multiple arrests, incarceration and eventually homelessness.
Stewart became very popular in Baltimore. He set a major league record by striking out seven straight batters in his major league debut in 1978 with an over-sized fastball against the Chicago White Sox at Memorial Stadium.
His baseball career would end in 1987. Off the field he had a son who died from cystic fibrosis at age 11 and it is thought that this was the major contributor to his decline.
