Composer Harvey Schmidt DEAD @ 88

He was the composer of “The Fantasticks;” debuting in 1960 and running continuously until 2002, and then again from 2006 until 2017. In total 21,552 performances. Dwight D. Eisenhower was president at that time and became the longest-running musical in history.

“Try to Remember,” was a standout song and the best-known song of “The Fantasticks.” Over the years many notable artists have recorded it including Plácido Domingo, Harry Belafonte, and Barbra Streisand.
