Nebraska Congressman and Governor Charles Thone DEAD @ 94
He dissented from conspiratorial findings, but while in congress in the late 1970s he served on a committee that helped re-investigate the killings of President John F. Kennedy and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
Thone represented Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District from 1971 to 1979. He then served one term as governor, from 1979 to 1983, but lost his 1982 reelection bid.
A former Republican Party state chairman and was a highly decorated Vietnam veteran.
Mr. Thone practiced law as a private citizen after his tenure as governor.
