He created many successful companies including Waste Management, Blockbuster and AutoNation and he was a major player in professional spots, owning the Miami Dolphins, Florida Panthers, and Marlins.
The Huizenga Family Foundation donated large sums of money over the years, according to IRS filings $2.6 million in contributions in 2015 alone.
Originally from Chicago but spent more than 60 years in his adopted home of Florida.
