Former Georgia Governor and U.S. Sen. Zell Miller DEAD @ 86
A lifetime of public service and a long fight with Parkinson's Disease.
He served as Mayor of the town of Young Harris, GA beginning in 1959 through 1960. From 1961 to 1964 he was a Georgia State Senator; and then as Lieutenant Governor of Georgia for 16 years from 1975-1991. Notably he was longest serving Lieutenant Governor in Georgia history. As the 79th Governor of Georgia he was in office from 1991 through 1999. He helped create a couple of notable education programs that still stand today. Miller then went on to serve in the United States Senate from 2000-2005.
