Nokie Edwards, the Ventures' Lead Guitarist, DEAD @ 82
Edwards was one of the architects and helped define surfer rock as the guitarist with The Ventures. He, his bandmates, and that sound earned the group a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In 1960 The Ventures hit Number Two on the charts with their classic, "Walk Don't Run." In 1964, they recorded their very popular song again and repeated their had chart success, this time peaking in the top 10.
Four years later they released the theme song for cop show Hawaii Five-O and made it to number four. In total, The Ventures released three gold-certified albums – The Ventures Play Telstar and the Lonely Bull, Golden Greats and Hawaii Five-O.
Also an actor, Edwards appeared in the HBO drama, Deadwood.
