Richard Hambleton, Prominent in the 80's Art Scene DEAD @ 65
Known as the ‘Shadowman’ in the popular art style of the 1980's, Silhouette.
From ArtNet.com, “Richard was a conceptual artist and his art was to evoke a reaction,” Kristine Woodward of Woodward Gallery, which had represented the artist told artnet News by phone. “In the 1980s he put his large black shadowy silhouette figures on city streets. It was like a repetitive visual icon of different shadowy figures and if you lived here at the time you became very familiar with them,” she said.
