Teen Kazimierz Piechowski, a member of the Polish Boy Scouts was one of the first prisoners at Auschwitz. He stole a commandant’s car while impersonated an angry SS officer and made his escape.
30 years later Mr. Piechowski returned to Auschwitz with his wife, Iga. He was one of the lucky ones, he survived. His adult life was spent speaking with student groups and others about the Holocaust and his experiences at Auschwitz. The stories describe nightmarish accounts of guard dogs, nerve problems and other atrocities. Recounting his memories were the source of a great deal of pain, however, it was his sense of duty kept those stories alive all these years.
