Sondra Locke, Oscar-Nominated Actress and Longtime Clint Eastwood Partner, DEAD @ 74

In 1968 Sondra Locke was nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role in “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter,” which starred Alan Arkin. That led to more roles including “Willard” and “The Second Coming of Suzanne.”

In a classic Hollywood love story she played the love interest of Eastwood’s character in “The Outlaw Josey Wales” and began dating him soon after.  They had a 14 year relationship, and during that time made six films together.  Notably, the highest grossing film of the “Dirty Harry” series and “Sudden Impact,” in 1983.

Like many Hollywood love stories their relationship ended after a palimony suit caused Eastwood to lock Locke out of their house.  She wasn't thrilled that Eastwood had fathered children with another woman during their relationship.
They settled and Eastwood set up a development and directing deal at Warner Bros. when the palimony suit was dropped.  Later Locke sued Eastwood for fraud--calling the deal a sham.  She also sued Warner Bros. in a separate suit. Finally Eastwood and WB both settled with Locke for undisclosed amounts.
Later she continued to act in films and direct plus she published a tell-all book about he what had happened to her with Eastwood and other Hollywood luminaries.
