Not a household name, but a man whose lyrics will be very familiar to millions. From TV show lyrics for Laverne & Shirley to Wonder Woman to Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Roberta Flack had a huge pop hit with
Gimbel's lyrics for Killing Me Softly (later remade by the Fugees). In the movies, he won an Oscar for Best Original Song, which he shared with David Shire for “It Goes Like It Goes” in the film Norma Rae. He earned other Oscar-nominations for “Ready to Take a Chance Again” for Foul Play and “Richard’s Window” from the film "The Other Side of the Mountain."
