Wally Triplett, N.F.L. Trailblazer, DEAD @ 92

He was one of the first African-Americans to be selected in the NFL draft--recruited from Penn State.
In the 1949 draft, Triplett was selected in the 19th round by the Detroit Lions as a running back and returner. He was one of three black players drafted that year and was the first to appear in a game.
Triplett spent two years with the Lions and two years with the Cardinals but between them he served in the Korean War with the 594th Field Artillery Battalion.
