Sponge Bob Creator Stephen Hillenburg DEAD @ 57
He was diagnosed with ALS in March 2017.
Hillenburg served as a director and writer on the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko's Modern Life from 1993 to 1996. While at Nick he created SpongeBob SquarePants, which premiered in May 1999.
The series won many awards including British Emmy Awards, Annie Awards and ASACP Awards. Over two decades more than 250 episodes have aired. There also have been two SpongeBob movies and a Broadway Musical. The films were released in 2004, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, and another in 2015's. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. The Tony-award winning version SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical had a run of more than 325 performances.
