Tito Francona, a Former Baseball All-Star, DEAD @ 84
Accomplished longtime ballplayer and father of Indians manager Terry Francona.
In 1956, Francona first played for the Baltimore Orioles; and in 1970, he played his last game with Milwaukee Brewers . Francona played for Cleveland for six seasons.
The lefty outfielder and first baseman also had a big bat, hitting .363 in 1959, his first season with the Indians. The next season he led the league in doubles and in 1961 he had the most singles. It was 1961 when has was named an all-star.
In total, he had a career batting average of .272, with 125 home runs and 656 runs batted in.
