He directed notable "Bond" films You Only Live Twice (1967), The Spy Who Loved Me (1978) and Moonraker (1979) his resume includes more than 40 films he directed over his career.

The director hailed from London and began as a child actor, in a film called "Dick Turpin" in 1933.
