Former New Jersey Governor Brendan Byrne, DEAD @ 93

Elected in 1973, the former Democrat governor helped attract professional teams to the Meadowlands and instituted the state’s first income tax.  The governor was familiar to 96% of the state's population, but at that time it was said he was popular with only 4% after the tax was instituted.
