Billy Harbach, First Producer of 'The Tonight Show,' DEAD @ 98
A two-time Emmy winner who served as the first producer of The Tonight Show and is known to have given Raquel Welch her big career break.
He was recognized and is a recipient of the Producers Guild of America Hall of Fame. Harbach was instrumental in giving singers such as Steve Lawrence, Eydie Gorme, Jack Jones and Andy Williams their starts in TV on the Steve Allen hosted The Tonight Show.
Harbach was a co-producer of ABC's The Julie Andrews Show in the 1970s and played a role in bringing the Kennedy Center Honors to TV in 1978-80) from Washington, D.C.
