Cronauer opened his Armed Forces Radio show with the famous phrase, “Goooooood morning, Vietnam!” while he was a U.S. Air Force sergeant in Vietnam between 1965 and 1966.

The military wanted middle-of-the-road music but young American service personal had a different idea.
