Shelly Cohen, Tonight Show Asst. Musical Director, DEAD @ 84

Assistant musical director for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show for nearly three decades.


He produced Ed McMahon's nightclub act and got to sing"Ya Got Trouble" from The Music Man.  In 1972 The Tonight Show moved to California and Cohen moved west too.  At his church in Woodland Hills, CA he was the choir director of St. Mel's Church where produced jazz Masses and annual concerts.
Nominated twice for Grammy awards, Cohen was a guest conductor with the Los Angeles Pops, the Virginia Pops, the Pasadena Pops and the Brentwood Symphony; founded the voice New Horizon Singers featuring 80 singers and the Pacific Pops Orchestra; and found time to play in his own band called, The Swing Tones.
