Ed King, Lynyrd Skynyrd Guitarist, DEAD @ 68
Ed King, joined Lynyrd Skynyrd as guitarist in 1972. He was a key member responsible for giving the band its Southern sound with the iconic three-guitar sound.
King was also a founding member of the psychedelic Sixties band Strawberry Alarm Clock, who had the big hit “Incense and Peppermints.”
King played on the band’s first three albums before getting in a scuffle with singer Ronnie Van Zant and leaving the band.
In 2006 King was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
