Written by Charles Albertine, "Bandstand Boogie," was first recorded by the Elgart and his band in January 1954 and later adopted as the theme music for the local "Bandstand" afternoon dance program on Philadelphia's WFIL-TV. "American Bandstand"went national on ABC TV with on August 5, 1957.
